6 Simple Healthy Habits To Start Doing Today

Some may think that in order to be healthy you need to go on a diet, but that's not always the case. I'm not saying that diets don't work, they do. However, staying healthy and fit stems down to your daily habits.

Try to incorporate these 6 habits into your daily routine and look out for an even better you!

Learn a new recipe

Eating out can be fun but cooking at home keeps your meals fresh and healthy. Try to learn a new recipe each month and before you know it, you'll have 12 new dishes to show off plus a new skillset in the kitchen. Bonus, if you start your day with a healthy meal for breakfast, you'll be preventing unnecessary snacking and hunger-induced decisions at lunch.

Stretch every morning and night

Stretching benefits both your mental and physical health. Doing it first thing in the morning gets your body ready for active mode, encourages blood flow, and eliminates any kinks from the night before.  Don't just leave it for a morning routine, stretching right before bed relaxes your body and gets you ready for a restful night. Focus on your breathing and engage your muscles.

Establish a bedtime routine

Bedtime routines aren't just for kids. They're good for you too. Tell your body it's time to go to sleep by placing your phone far away, stretching, and reading a couple pages from your favorite book. Reading 5 pages each night not only makes us feel smarter but keeps our brains sharp. Take it a step further by going to bed 1/2 hour earlier than normal. Our bodies need about 7-8 hours of sleep each night and if we miss out on that, naps are allowed too.

Drink water first thing in the morning

This tip is really simple but probably the most important. Our bodies are made up of roughly 60% water and every major organ is influenced by fluid balance. Since our bodies get dehydrated while we sleep, drinking water first thing in the morning rehydrates our organs and jumpstarts our metabolism. Some more benefits of this little trick are that it clears your mind and makes you alert and fully awake. With that, you can easily start the day, have a productive morning, and be more focused than usual for the rest of the day

Swap dessert and candy for fruit

Fruit is sweet, delicious and so much better for you than a sugar-filled candy or dessert. Fruits also adds roughage to your system and help with bowel movements. Sweet tooth craving gone and plus  your daily dose of fiber, sounds like a winner to me.

Walk for 10mins a day

It’s beneficial for your physical well-being as by doing it daily, you’re staying active. Also, it’s great for emptying your mind, breathing some fresh air, getting some vitamin D (if done during the day), and boosting your mood naturally and feeling more alive!

These healthy habits will be enough to change your life in many ways.
